Hello,
This is to share a graph of world unequality based on data sent by Arno some
days ago and computed by me. It is based on UNDP 2000 global report. It
assumes that each country's ratio of accumulated income of 20% richest over
20% poorest has the same value inside any region of that particular nation.
When the ratio of national income per capita IPCi over world average IPCw,
and nations fractions of world population are considered, the world
distribution looses its paretian shape (exponential).
For data collected, world-gini-index found is around 0.54
Explaining methodology in detail takes too long. If graph were made based on
real personal income (not household) then the world-gini would be higher,
perhaps over 0.6
It is surprising that many small and poor nations have better statistical
data while others like Argentina, Kuwait, Arab Emirates lack acceptable
distribution studies according to Deininger. IMO it is due to an intentional
policy of elites of those nations.
OK, regards and reflect on the graph. Emilio
