Dear Francisco: I've done some research on this and can refer you some sites: First, my online guide, Internet Resources for Latin America, contains a section ABOUT the development of the net in Latin America. The actual numbers in my guide are out-dated, but the links to the net survey data are still good. http://lib.nmsu.edu/subject/bord/laguia Also, the LANIC site at Univ. of Texas has a great section with links to sites ABOUT the net in LA, http://lanic.utexas.edu/la/region/networking/ Alos, in a recent attempt to update some of this info in response to another request, I found the following: Internet Domain Survey info from http://www.isc.org/dsview.cgi?domainsurvey/index.html. This is the most reliable and long-term survey that I know of. I think that many of the other market research people who publish reports, get their raw data from the IDS. Matrix Information and Directory Service (http://www.mids.org) , a group that publishes a great deal of market information -- some available for free, other by subscription. This site gives statistics and charts for many regions and countries. Most of the really good data you have to buy-- I also found the survey reports from the NUA Internet Surveys to be an excellent resource. This is a free site with a wealth of information on internet worldwide trends. http://www.nua.ie/index.html You can search for surveys dealing with Latin American countries. Also, the International Telecommunications Union compiles excellent statistics worldwide. http://www.itu.int/ti/industryoverview/index.htm On this page are links to basic ITU telecom indicators. From this page you can download detailed charts on Population, GDP, main telephone line and main lines per 100 people, Cellular subscribers, subscribers per 100 people, Top 20 Public Telecom Operators by Revenue , Top 20 International Telecom Operators, Top 20 Mobile Cellular Operators by Subscribers... I believe there are alos some internet stats on the ITU site. I also found many very useful articles from the InfoLatinoamerica Database. This is a commercial product available from the NISC, http://biblioline.nisc.com We have a subscription to the database here at our library. You can get a free trial of the database from NISC. I hope this is useful.
