OK, what Luke writes seems acceptable at first glance at least - with a small amencdxment tht I hope Luke can accept. Like ethnicity culture is composed of many strands, and it/they change over time. More than that, one [individual, group, etc] selects from among the strands to ''use'' the ones that are most ''useful'' st this time and place. at anotehr time & place another set meets that need. There may be limitations in THIS Culture of what can be used/stressed, thogh it is also possible to ADD/REVISE ethnic/cluural features to fit the occasion/need. And that culture may have a strucure is quite compatible with what cultural anthropologists hav to say about it, which is many different things they say. enough for now, I have to - as all of you - transmit on other wave lengths too. gunder frank ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ANDRE GUNDER FRANK Senior Fellow Residence World History Center One Longfellow Place Northeastern University Apt. 3411 270 Holmes Hall Boston, MA 02114 USA Boston, MA 02115 USA Tel: 617-948 2315 Tel: 617 - 373 4060 Fax: 617-948 2316 Web-page:csf.colorado.edu/agfrank/ e-mail:franka@fiu.edu Web-page UPDATES are at http://rrojasdatabank.info/agfrank ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
