Greetings,

I doubt Said's assessment of Historical Imperial systems are historically correct. Just a look at the Achamenid History would reveal that '' sancrosanct altruism and well-meaning innocence'' which Said wrongly attributes to American Imperialism. And the second part which deals with Left Intellectuals and their domesticated approach to the Power is not as astonishing as Said represents it. The Left intellectuals in Europe and America and more importantly in Eastern Europe did in one way or other served both Western Empire and Former Soviet Empire when it came to issues of 'Strategic Magnitude'. And again if one stretches the interior dimenions of the concpet of intellectuals to all those who in a society deal with matters of power in a learned manner then again it is not the first time which 'Learned Men' Sell Out and Give In.  No?
