Dear Giovanni,Immanuel and Samir
I am more undeservedly honored than deservedly pleased by your surprise
announcement about your reviews of my book. I suppose its was not kept a
surprise/secret to honor me fest-schrift like, since you kindly already did
that  some years ago. So I suspect the secrecy was more so that I could not
ask you for a
'right of reply' in the same issue -- which would have made it into a sort
of book 3 of ours --- which i actually proposed we do on this sort of
topic, but you all declined, and now have gone off to do 'it' on your own.
It reminds me of your shirking of Marta at Agra after i had broken my foot
trytin to get on your bus to rise with you so that she had to travel
and at Agra eat alone,  which is a pain that she took wiht her to the
grave, accomjponaied mnaybe by one from me for not having cut off all
relations to you all out of loyalty to her. I already told Samir about all
this one day near the Pantheon in Paris, and explained that this was the
reason
that Marta refused to appear as co-author on our book 2.
So what's the secrecy? Samir told me about his essay but did nt mention the
otehrs. When my Chinese publisher got wind
of it, I sent you their inquiry for your reply. but i never got one. I
guess I should have done what Marta said
instead of celebbragting our 30th anniversary with Giovanni and Samir and
the 25th with Immanuel this year.

So you dont think I am writing this out of displeasure
wioth what you wrote, I inform that I have not received or read what you
wrote since I am writing curtesy of Calgar
in Istanbul.
