Dear Alan, I really don't know about China, but what you stated about vietnamese companies is a fact. According to my perception, the process started when the state owned companies need more flexibility to survive. Essentially, there are two forms of the state owned companies: "intimate privatization" of a state ownned company and a private company that has a state owned label. There are differences between these two types even they have the same label. I don't really know what is the future of these companies in terms of " Who owns ...". It might be a good topics for research. As far as I know there are not so much research done in this topics. So I am also interested in that question not specifically concerning China. With my best regards Aiviet > I have a friend who is doing some research on China, specifically, the degree >to which the so-called "socialist" state is in fact owned, or at least >controlled, by private interest groups who are benefitting from the labor of >the working class.
