Thanks for sharing this... I was wondering why so few people
on the list seem to take my postings seriously. 

In fact, the Guidebook offers considerable structural historical
analysis... I wonder why you miss it.  Is it that you dismiss
any analysis that does not conform to your own preconceptions?
Or did you perhaps read only the conclusions and miss the analysis?

Certainly I tie things to current
events as frequently as possible, because of the limited
historical knowledge of most readers.  This list is
certainly not the target audience for the Guidebook.  I
consider you guys co-authors, via your sometimes valuable
critiques.  Also, history is non-linear.  The events of the
past 50 years telescope as many structural historical shifts
as have occurred in several previous centuries.  The events
of this recent period deserve considerable treatment.
