NOTE FROM ALAN SPECTOR: I SENT THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE TO GEORGE
PENNEFATHER, AND HE SUGGESTED I SEND IT TO THE WHOLE WSN NETWORK. SO HERE
GOES:
==============================================================
I agree very much with the thrust of your message. In general, you
put
forward a consistent line that is revolutionary anti-capitalist (which I agree with) and you do it in a way that is principled, rather than just shouting popular slogans. The only thing I might have said differently in your post was a characterization of the "anti-fascist" protestors as "ranting and raving." It is likely that there were thousands of serious anti-fascists, especially among the youth, who have the potential to develop deeper understanding. It is GOOD that they want to protest and I would not want to insult them; it is good that they want to militantly oppose fascism. It is BAD that they are being used by the imperialist EU which opposes the Austrian fascists for its own selfish reasons. So I do basically agree with the essence of your point -- that reformism is not simply "an inadequate half-way step" but rather that it often leads someone to be used against the working class by one or another group of squabbling capitalists.
