true. once, i had the chance of running into creation scientists web
page. they were claiming that what they were doing was "real" science
while evolutionary science, they were arguing, was "pseudo science".they
seemed to be doing two things at the same time 1) propoganda of
anti-socialism 2) rejection of darwinism by establishing guilt by
association between socialism and fascism.

in the sciences, it may be true. however, when it comes to public mind in
general, religion and theory of creation occupy a strong hold on avarege
american's beleif system. today, i was suprised to see one of my student's
reaction to one of her pro-life friends: "I strongly beleive in abortion
BUT i am strongly religious... " and then she continued "nowhere in the
bible it says women should be deprived of abortion rights" . she
seemd like a christian feminist of some sort, whereas it seemed
quite "unconvincing" to me how "any" religion could not be patriarchal
towards women.
