UNIVERSITY OF UTAH. The Department of Sociology invites
applications for a rank-open (advanced associate or full professor)
position, and seeks a scholar of national stature in the area of
macro-comparative sociology. Quantitative expertise is essential,
and a history of extramural funding is preferred. The department
is currently restructuring its graduate program around its strength
in cross-national, macro-comparative research, and the successful
candidate will be expected to assume a prominent role in this
endeavor. While area of sub-specialization is open, we seek an
individual who will work well with current active research faculty
in one or more areas which include: comparative institutional
analysis, stratification, human ecology and environmental
sociology. The position is contingent upon final budgetary
