june 18 day of protest

This is a belated response to an earlier post asking about a protest in
London.
There were protests around the world on June 18th, the day of the meeting
of the G8 in Koln: it was called a "Global Carnival Against Capital."
(I saw a short clip on the evening news here in Tucson that night of cops
teargassing anarchists in Eugene, Oregon.)
This day of protest was loosely coordinated out of the U.K. and acted on
by a network of anarchists and others.
So, while the excellent Guardian article by Jonathan Freedman that someone
posted to the WSN list focused on the continuity with English history,
this was actually a global protest.
