Re: Canada and Mexico

WSN and IPE Folks:
I have a student who is interested in why Canada and Mexico have ended up in
such different positions in the world economy, despite considerable economic
historical similarities, including economic domination by the USA, primary
sector exports, etc. I am not familiar with much literature on this precise
topic, although I suspect there must be some. Does anyone have readings they
can recommend? Does anyone have a pithy and succinct hypothesis to offer
that would account for the differences?
Thanks,
