I am also writing a paper in this area and needed critical reviews of WST.
Here's a citation or two. The second is from an archaeology perspective but
offers salient discussion about the underlying assumptions of WST and its
main criticisms.

Brenner, Robert
1977 The Origins of Capitalist Development: A Critique of Neo-Smithian
Marxism. New Left Review 104:25-92.

Kohl, Phillip
1989 The Use and Abuse of World-Systems Theory. In Archaeological Thought
in America, edited by C.C. Lamberg-Karlovsky, pp.218-240. Cambridge Univ
Press.

Of course, you can always look in the Social Sciences Citation Index on any
early article to your particular perspective and find responses to that
article by other authors.
