WS nets,

I am looking for references to literature that discusses the
relationship between globalization, imperialism and racism in an
historical perspective. Specifically, in the late 19th century and
especially the early 20th, there was a marked increase in racial
conflict and the promulgating of racist ideologies worldwide. In the
US, we had the imposition f Jim Crow and banning Chinese immigration,
followed after the war with a series of violent race riots in the
North and lynchings in the South. Post-war Europe was plagued with a
new especially virulent form of anti-semitism and a new wave of
colonial conquest over Africa and Asia. Social Darwinism became
something debated in the mainstream press, and so on. I have my own
ideas about how this rise in racism was tied to what we
now call globalization, which peaked in 1914 then fell dramatically
thereafter. But, my guess is that my ideas are too obvious to be
novel and that I've overlooked key literature on the topic because of
a difference in terminology or discipline. Any suggestions are
welcomed.
