David Smith is right. It is not fair to those on the quarter system to start
the discussion of Giovanni Arrighi's _Long Twentieth Century_ so soon. So
let's begin the discussion on Monday June 26 instead. Perhaps more of you
will have had a chance to read the whole book by then.
David also suggested in a note to me that we have a discussion, perhaps
later on this summer of, Eric Hobsbawm's _The Age of Extremes: A History of
the World, 1914-1991_ (Pantheon 1994). That seems like a good idea to me.
For those who are interested, start now to obtain a copy of Hobsbawm's new
book.
