fyi _______________________________________________________________________ Central European University Senior Position in Gender Studies The Department of Gender Studies at Central European University invites applications for a full-time Professor. Central European University is an English-speaking graduate research-intensive university, located in Budapest, Hungary, and chartered as a degree-granting institution in the United States. Its primary mission is to contribute to the development of open societies in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union by promoting academic excellence - including high level research - and civic commitment. Offering an M.A. in Gender Studies, a Ph.D. in Comparative Gender Studies, and about 25 other degrees, CEU each year enrolls approximately 800 students from more than 50 countries. The teaching staff consists of around 100 faculty from more than 30 countries. We are looking for a dynamic scholar with a strong commitment to research and graduate teaching in Women's and Gender Studies and in one of the disciplines within the Social Sciences and Humanities. Applications are particularly welcome from candidates with an interest and experience in creative interdisciplinarity, in exploring the interrelation between transnational and local/national/regional change, and in the dynamics of creating and contesting global hierarchies. Along with teaching in the area of specialization, the successful candidate should have experience and/or interest in academic administration and a vision of academic development. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have an established record of scholarship and teaching. The initial appointment is for 4-5 years and is renewable. Salary and benefits are dependent upon qualifications and experience. The compensation package is subject to Hungarian taxation regulations. CEU offers assistance to its employees who are not citizens or permanent residents of Hungary to obtain a work permit which is required by the Hungarian labor authorities.
