Greetings,
As far as the text in 'Experiment with Truth' is concerned it says otherwise. However how, in reality, is the idea of democracy different than populism? If what Focault says about the very sturcture of modernity has a grain of truth then I don't see why should 'we' ''try'' for another 100 years something that never existed! Of course this is not to suggest that Saddamism or Nazism is better than Imperial Arrangements but it is, at least, to suggest that one needs to realize the limits of modern rationality and the absurdities which envelop the frame of modern (secular) emancipatory politics (in the sense Giddens employs it). Apart from the above I think Gandhi could have been wronged if, in anyway, he suggested that we should have tried to build another 'New World' - a la America- elsewhere in the globe. Wish you a good evening.
cordial regards
