You do not understand.  If the regime is pro US and does as any US administration tells it to do, it is a struggling democratic regime, fighting communism.  In the fight against communism, the ends always justifies the means.  Therefore Marcos, Duvallier, etc. are good guys.  The S African, Contras, Northern Alliance are good guys.  All other totalitarian regimes are bad.  We live in a dichotomous world.  Leaders and people to a great extent lack the ability to think in terms of a continuum.  Problems must be solved immediately, without debate,  zero tolerance for any divergence or reservation, and with as much force as necessary
