Return(s) to Marx?

Two days of discussion at the Institut français du Royaume-Uni and Tate
Modern, organised in collaboration with Verso and the Forum for European
Philosophy.

Is Karl Marx just an archaic nineteenth-century radical, or is his
critique of the dynamic instability of capitalism still powerfully relevant
to economics, politics, philosophy and culture today? In recent years, a new
and serious engagement with Marx's analysis has reemerged from France, led
particularly by philosophers such as Jacques Derrida and Alain Badiou, but
extended also by intellectuals and writers such as Daniel Bensaïd, Dominique
Lecourt and Miguel Abensour. Return(s) to Marx? considers the current status
of Marx¹s ideas both in France and Britain.
