Has been built by whom? [snip] By my ancestors; who came to the U.S., took the land away from the occupants they found there, made war against Great Britain and won independence, protected that independence in another war with Britain, made war on Mexico and took the western U.S. away from that nation, fought a war with Spain and took many of their colonies away from that nation (most of whom have become independent since), participated in a war in conjunction with Britain, France et al and defeated the German/Austrian powers (and took not one damn thing from that except a loss of lives and treasure), fought a second war along with Britain and other allies against the German/Japanese powers (won and gained nothing except the defense of itself). [snip] For whom? "Remain strong" means to demolish Afganistan, and then go toward Iraq, Somalia and any other country that could, in any way, be a nail-sized threat to your way of life? [snip] Please do not interpret my words and put in meanings that are in your mind only. I said nothing about demolishing any nation. I said nothing about demolishing Iraq. Remain strong means to keep our defensive power strong. It does not mean to interfere in the affairs of other nations as long as those affairs do not cause problems for the citizens of the United States. Hell, the U.S. hasn't gained any territory from all of the wars we fought in the 20th century. That sure does indicate that the bad, bad, U.S. is just waiting to "take over" some other nation. [snip] I´m sitting in front of my computer in Brazil doing my ordinary office work, but for you, or the CIA, I could be a potentialy threat to your country, just because I do not agree with you... [snip] You are probably a better judge of whether you are a threat to my country. Seems to me that Brazil is doing enough by destroying the society of the Amazonian Indian tribes that you don't have a lot of room to brag. [snip]
[snip] My point is that the world operates on a basis that is not kind, sweet, good or even nice. Every nation looks out for itself. I cannot say that is bad because it has never been any other way. And I will bet 20 to 1 that it will remain that way in the future. It is a natural aspect of the human psyche. Look out for number one. While I do agree that it would be a nicer world to live in if it were different I doubt that it ever will be, so I think that my nation must abide by the situation that prevails just as does yours and all other nations. [snsip] Do you agree with that?
