My apologies -- I did not mean to compare the practice of women veiling and MTV.  I don't think there is a comparison.  To an outsider, veiling women might appear oppressive, but I'm not sure the people who do it necessarily think of it that way.  Some cultures are very protective of their women and want to shield them from the glare of public view.  It is also common for desert people to have some kind of covering for the face, I've seen men do it, too.

I would be very grateful if someone would elaborate a bit on what is meant by "the agency of women."
