I'd say one of the most important things this Bush Mideast policy
indicates is the weakness of the Arab states.

If the oil companies thought the Arab oil states had some power to
negatively affect "the U.S." (ie, the U.S. oil companies), they might act
the way it has been proposed they should in pressuring the Bush
administration vis a vis Israel and the Palestinians.  It appears they are
not the least worried that action will (or can) back up the rhetoric of
pan-Arab solidarity.
