Notes to Contributors 1. The Journal is principally devoted to contemporary political and economic studies of all aspects of the European Union. In addition the Journal also publishes articles in area studies and comparative politics of Europe. All manuscripts and correspondence connected with the contents of the Journal should be sent to the academic Editor-in-Chief: Professor Justin Greenwood, School of Public Administration and Law, The Robert Gordon University, Faculty of Management, Garthdee Rd. Submission of an article is taken to imply that it has not been previously published and it is not being considered for publication elsewhere. 4. Articles should be between 6 - 7,000 words in length, inclusive of references, footnotes, tables and abstract 5. Three copies of the article should be submitted, typed on one side only, double spaced on A4 paper (including footnotes and references). 6. Organisation. All manuscript structures must be kept consistent within the publication. Manuscripts should consist of the following: i. Title - typed in capital letters. ii. Author's name. iii. Affiliation - and short address (including country) iv. Abstract - A short abstract (not to exceed 200 words) should be self-explanatory and summarize the paper's essential qualities. v. Introduction - The introduction should define clearly the nature of the problem. Reference should be made to previously published pertinent papers, accenting the major original contributions. Articles should not however start with the sub heading 'Introduction'. vi. Body - Gives the primary message of the paper in detail, and may be broken down into sections and subsections. The section and subsection titles should have one blank line space before and after it. (Section titles in capitals, subsections in initial capital lower case.) The contributions made by the author(s) should be clearly stated. Appropriate figures and tables may be used to amplify the text discussion. Each should be numbered consecutively, using Arabic numerals (eg., Figure 1, Figure 2; Table 1, Table 2, etc.) All figures and tables should be referred to in the text in their numerical order (i.e., do not refer to Table 3 before Table 2). Please do not underline on the original copy to clearly emphasis, please do so on the copy. vii. Conclusions - One blank line before and after "CONCLUSION". The conclusion should point out the significance of the work, its limitations and advantages, applications of the results and may make recommendations to further work. viii. References - One blank line before and after "REFERENCE". The Harvard System of referencing should be used. 7. The main body of the article, including footnotes, quotations, appendices should be doubled spaced and right hand justified, with left hand margins of at least 1 in. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively in the text and typed double spaced at the end of the text, on a new page. 8. Technical Illustrations. All photographs, charts and diagrams are to be referred to as "Figures", and should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are referred to in the text. Brief captions should be provided to make the figure as informative as possible (these captions should be typed consecutively on a separate page or pages at the end of the paper). Each caption should give the Figure number. Photographs should be of good quality (black and white glossies) and submitted in a separate envelope, with the authors name, figure number, and top of the photo clearly marked on the back. Line illustrations must be clearly drawn in Indian ink on good quality white paper or vellum. They should be labelled clearly by typewriter. (If this is not possible, two prints should be supplied, one appropriately marked and the other unmarked for Nova Science to set). 9. When the article has been accepted for publication, the author is required to send two hard copies and one disk copy of the paper to the editor. Disk copies should be virus checked before despatch, and should be clearly marked with Author, Title of article, date of submission, and the software/hardware used. Only Microsoft Word 6.0 for Windows can be accepted. 10. Proofs. The corresponding author receives, which should be read, corrected, and returned to the Publisher within 48 of hours of receipt. 11. Pages Charges and Reprints. There are no page charges. Each author receives with his/her galley proofs a reprint order form. Upon acceptance of an article the author(s) will be asked to transfer copyright in the article to the Publisher. The transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information under the U.S. Copyright Law.
