Why I posted the series...

I certainly wasn't trying to inform you guys with such
simple stuff. The target audience is 'ordinary readers'.
Nor was I expecting general acceptance of an analysis which
doesn't talk about class, doesn't emphasize workers, says
good things about market economies, emphasizes elite agency,
and doesn't mention Marxism or socialism.
Some of this represents a difference in fundamental
analsysis, and a lot of it is simply a matter of writing for
audiences who have been conditioned to reject anything that
talks about socialism or Marxism. In some sense, the
chapter is attempting to smuggle camels past the guards at
the Gates of Credibility.
What I was hoping for, from this august assembly, was
critiques and suggestions regarding the analysis or its
presentation. For example, I make the claim that the 'growth
imperative' has been responsible for all European wars since
the Industrial Revolution. I figured at least one person
would come up with a war that was an exception.
In any case, if anyone has any comments, they'd be
appreciated either privately or on the list.
