ASSISTANT PROFESSOR FACULTY POSITION IN WOMEN'S STUDIES AND GLOBAL STUDIES

The Department of Women's Studies and the Institute for Global Studies at
the
University of Minnesota-Twin Cities invite applications for a full time,
nine-month tenure-track position.  This is a joint appointment, with
half-time
teaching responsibilities in each of the two academic units.  The tenure
home
will be in the Department of Women's Studies. We seek candidates whose work
promises important theoretical contributions to the interdisciplinary
understanding of gender and globalization.  Training in the social sciences
is
preferred.  Geographic area open, but candidates with a research focus on
Africa
are especially encouraged to apply.  Preference will be given to candidates
with
graduate training or teaching experience in women's/gender studies or
discipline-based work in gender analysis and feminist theory.

The appointment will begin August 27, 2001 and will be at the rank of
Assistant
Professor.  Salary will be competitive.  Responsibilities are to maintain an
active program of research and publication, teach undergraduate and graduate
courses, advise students, and serve on departmental and university
committees.
ABD in a relevant discipline with substantial progress on dissertation is
required.  Ph.D. preferred. If the Ph.D. is not in hand by August 27, 2001,
however, the appointment will be at the rank of tenure track Instructor,
with a
stipulation that that Ph.D. be completed within one year.
