[Fwd: Spiral Comments]

Chris,

Could you please forward this to WSN. Due to computer problems at Emory, I cannot get back on WSN until I get my new system in August. I am in London until the ASA. Enjoy the move out West, cowboy.

Many thanks to Warren Wagar and Pat Loy for their mini- reviews, and special thanks to Gert Kohler for his executive summary of our book, The Spiral of Capitalism and Socialism: Toward Global Democracy. (Lynne Rienner, 2000).

I had to read these on the WSN archive. Due to computer problems at Emory, I cannot get back on WSN until I get my new system in August, so I apologize for not commenting earlier. These are great and the summary is very useful, and if people do not object, I'd like to post some elsewhere, with citations, of course. I can be reached at tbos@emory.edu (but wait until mid-August, I am out of the country or without a decent computer until then).

I also welcome criticisms, debates, and other comments. Kj Khoo noted the difficulty for some Asian scholars in getting this or other recent books. I contacted the marketing director about this problem and got the following response:

From: "Penny Monroe"
Hi Terry,

There are some companies in Asia that distribute our books. Some of them are listed in the back of our catalogs or feel free to give people my email address if you like.
[OK I WILL --> <pmonroe@rienner.com>]
If I know what country they are in, I can give them a more detailed answer and provide addresses/fax numbers etc. I know the shipping gets expensive, but they can also order through our website. [www.rienner.com].

I hope that is of some use. If currency or other impediments prohibit the spread of world-system ideas, lets us know directly. There are other things we can try.

cheers,

Bos
