Jason refers to "Forest clearance in the Brazilian
rainforest, and elsewhere, by displaced peasant producers ..." That's true
as far as it goes.

But: Randy, you've got it all wrong when you leap to the argument that "we
can lessen the pressure on the forest by reducing pop."

Thre Brazilian rain forest is being destroyed , not by peasants, but by
ranchers, who want to increase pasturage, and by loggers. In other words:
by capitalism.
