University of Tennessee. The Department of Sociology invites applications for 
a
tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank beginning 
Fall
2002. Primary research and teaching interests should be in the areas of
criminology or political economy. Applicants with strong statistical skills, a
well-established record of research publications or strong potential to 
develop
one, and strong teaching credentials will be given priority. A Ph.D. by August
2002 is expected. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching, active 
engagement
in seeking external funding for research, and service related to the mission 
of
the department and the university. Salary and benefits are competitive.
Applicants should submit a letter describing their teaching and research
interests, a curriculum vitae, and a list of three persons who may be 
contacted
for references. Materials should be addressed to: Donald W. Hastings, Search
Committee Chair, Department of Sociology, University of Tennessee, Knoxville,
