Comparisons to Eichamnn?

by Alan Spector

Well, now I'm being compared to Eichmann. This from someone who espouses
a theory about genes utterly dominating every aspect of social,
cultural, political, and economic life, a theory rather like the
essential theory that Eichmann himself espoused.

This following quote about me in particular is quite remarkable from
someone who knows nothing at all about me personally:

"He provides a perfect example of the animal that sociobiologists have
found. Spectors is ready to say (or perhaps do) anything to ride his
political ideology to social power. In other words, Spectors would make
an ideal Presidential Candidate."

My goodness! I even turned down a possible opportunity to become
Department Head (WOW!), and with it considerable power and a rather
huge pay raise! I must be going counter to Hanson's evolutionary theory
-- AND I have THREE CHILDREN who will pass those "anti-power hungry"
genes on! I guess I'm contributing to the demise of humanity -- the
sharks will win after all. Seriously, it is good that Hanson has
finally resorted to hysterical personal attacks. That reveals the
emptiness of the core of his arguments, despite his avalanche of
footnotes.

I've seen e-mail lists destroyed because one or a few people come to
dominate the discussion and want to keep it focused only on their pet
projects while list members get irritated at the waste of their time,
especially when personal insults come to the fore..

I sincerely hope that I have not contributed to any demoralization of
the hundreds of WSN list members by occasionally responding to these
provocations. I have tried to stimulate other discussions on the list. I
hope, and expect that others will contribute other material as they/we
get past the particular hectic schedules of the first few weeks of
classes.

apologetically yours,

Alan Spector
