THE National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW) says it is exasperated by
what it describes as the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation's "brutal
aggression" against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

This aggression is leading to the heavy loss of human life and damage to
infrastructure, NUNW president Ponhele ya France charged at a media
briefing Monday.

"We are very much concerned that notwithstanding the end of the so-called
Cold War, the world has become more dangerous as a result of a powerful
country which has crowned itself as a world policeman.

"This is an act of naked aggression, a danger to the world peace,
stability and survival of mankind," he continued.

"If Nato aggression could not be stopped by world popular demand, the
result will be a global Nato empire and the enslavement of humankind," Ya
France said.

The union leader added that Yugoslavia played a crucial role during the
liberation struggle by providing political, diplomatic and material
support to Swapo.

According to him, one of Namibia's heroes, Benjamin Namalambo (nicknamed
Kati ka Nigeria), died and was buried in Yugoslavia.

"Since everything is destroyed in Yugoslavia now, we have the fear that
even Namalambo's grave may not be found anymore," he said.

The union also paid tribute to the Trade Union of Workers and the people
of Yugoslavia who in the face of constant attacks by Nato forces have
stood firm behind their leader, President Slobodan Milosevic. - Nampa
