Minneapolis-The Center for Global Education at Augsburg College announces
two upcoming faculty development programs to take place in Mexico.  

* EDUCATION FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE - A Faculty Development  Seminar in
Cuernavaca, Mexico, July 10-17, 1999.  This seminar is designed to help
educators explore the relationship of education to social justice. Together
with colleagues from various disciplines and educational institutions who
share your commitment to globalizing curricula and educating for social
change, you will have the opportunity to discuss and experience educational
models which integrate social justice perspectives. $955 including room and
board, all program costs, interpretation, ground transportation. This price
does not include airfare to and from Mexico.
	
* LEADERSHIP AND EDUCATION FOR SOCIAL CHANGE: MULTICULTURAL PERSPECTIVES,
Cuernavaca, Mexico, June 19-July 2, 1999.  A graduate level course for
teachers, education administrators, and persons interested in the dynamics
of leadership, this seminar will consider issues of diversity and
multiculturalism within different educational contexts. Learn about various
educational structures, methods and movements within Mexican society.
$1,650 including room and board, all program costs, interpretation, ground
transportation and round-trip airfare from Houston.
	
Both programs will include face-to-face meetings with people who represent
a cross-section of Mexican society, field trips, and group and personal
reflection time.  Participants need not speak Spanish to participate; the
Center's staff will provide translation as needed.  Cuernavaca is located
about one hour south of Mexico City.
	
The Center for Global Education is a program of Augsburg College.  It was
founded in 1982 to provide cross-cultural educational opportunities in
order to foster critical analysis of local and global conditions to that
personal and systemic change takes place leading to a more just and
sustainable world.  The Center is recognized nationally for its work in
alternative education, and frequently consults for colleges and
universities in the United States for faculty development training and
interim programs for students.
