The ISCSC seeks to provide a forum for scholarly inquiry and exchange of
ideas along a number of lines:
the comparison of whole civilizations;
the development of theories or methods especially useful in comparative
civilizational studies;
significant issues in the humanities or the social sciences studied from a
comparative civilizational perspective;
specific comparisons across cultural axes;
interdisciplinary and other approaches to issues in civilizational studies.
The "Comparative Civilizational Perspective" which the Society advocates
is designed to shed new light either on the process, structures and texts of
single civilizations or on the problems of interpreting and comparing
civilizations with methods from both the humanities and the social sciences.
