_The Geography of Desire_ is a novel published a few years back by
Knopf and recently reissued in paperback. The story is set in a
small coastal town in a fictional Central American country (i.e.,
Nicaragua), where a North American owns a seedy hotel. He becomes
involved in more than one tawdry love affair, and he trys to do the
"right thing." Unfortunately, what he finds to be right and what is
in his own interest, he cannot tell apart.
