In the recently renewed debate over how to conceptualize the
role of Europe in the creation of the current world, no one has
addressed the utility of Samir Amin's concept of the "Tributary"
mode of production. I have long found it useful, & would be most
interested in reading the thoughts of others on its contnued
relevance in the light of recent debate.
