So Lloyd-Jones thinks that "World System(s)" is just "vulgar Marxism writ
large," but has only admiration for the "Al and Heidi's writing skill and
witty and tasteful use of detail"! Is this a JOKE?!! (Sadly, it doesn't
seem to be.)
While this debate has brought some interesting ideas to the fore, perhaps
it's time for some folks to push back from the keyboard and read some
books that are a bit less breezy and little more substantial than pop
"futurists." Try some titles by Wallerstein, Arrighi, Abu-Lughod,
Chase-Dunn, Frank, etc....
