The Destiny of Imre Lakatos's 'Scientific Research Program' concept in
various disciplines (a biblioghraphy collected by Internet support).

History of Earth

H. Frankel, "The Career of
Continental Drift Theory: an application of Imre Lakatos' analysis of
scientific growth to the rise of drift theory," Studies in History and
Philosophy of Sci., 10 (1979): 21-66.
Prof.H.Frankel: I argued
against Lakatos because one doesn't find an unchanging hard core in any of
the competing research programs, but suggested, quite incorrectly I now
believe, in favor of novel facts, albeit a different notion of novel facts
than Lakatos had in mind.

Homer LeGrand, Drifting Continents and Shifting Theories (l988) Cambridge
Univ. Press.
Le Grand compares Lakatos, Kuhn and Laudan in his
book. He argues that Laudan's account offers a better analysis of the
continental drift controversy than Kuhn or Lakatos.

History of Life

Charles Officer and Jake Page,"The Great Dinosaur Extinction Controversy"
Addison-Wesley Publishing Company, Inc., 1996, ISBN0-201-48384-X.
This book is aimed at a popular audience although it is serious science.
Lakatos is cited favorably on pp. 178-187, where his criterion of
predicting new facts is applied.

Architecture

Stanford Anderson "Architectural Design as a System of Research
Programs,' Design Studies (July, 1984)
Also studies by Stanford Anderson, Libero Andreotti, and Vasilia
Metallinou in the same issue.

Social Sciences in general, World System Analysis

Joseph P. Berger and Morris Zelditch, Jr.
_Theoretical Research Programs: Studies in the Growth of Theory_
Stanford University Press, 1993.
This book presents several trps in sociology and political science.

Kyriakos M. Kontopoulos.The logics of social structure. Cambridge ;
New York : Cambridge University Press, 1993.

Prof.Chris Chase-Dunn: Tom Hall and I have used Lakatos's basic strategy in
our explication of the comparative world-systems approach, forthcoming in
January or February from Westview Press -- _Rise and Demise: the Comparative
Study of World-Systems_.

Economics

S. Latsis (ed.) Method and Appraisal in Economics, CUP 1976

De Marchi, Neil (1992) Post Popperian
Methodology of Economics: Recovering Practice, Boston: Kluwer.

De Marchi, N. and M. Blaug (eds) Appraising Economic Theories, Alders-
hot: Elgar, 1991.

For other stuff, a search on Econolit would surely
dredge up most of it, along, say, with a consultation of History of
Political Economy, Journal of Economic Literature, Economics and Phi-
losophy, and Journal of Econonmic Methodology.

Political Science

Robert Keohane, "Theory of World Politics," in _NeoRealism and its
Critics_, R. Keohane, ed. (New York: Columbia University Press, 1986), PP.

Politics," in _World Politics_ 29 (1977) pp. 489-522.

Anthropology of Knowledge

Theology

Nancey Murphy, _Theology in an age of scientific reasoning_,
Cornell University Press, Ithaca New York, 1990.
the book is an application of Lakatos to
theological method.

that's all for now
[BTW, if you go for some purpose to make a copy of
papers or book-pages devoted to Lakatos (especially in Social and Political
Sciences), please consider possibility to make a spare copy for me.
Nothing in our library here, alas! Nikolai]
