Nikolai Rozov asked on October 11 about applications of Imre Lakatos's
idea of 'theoretical research programs' in social science. I had
misplaced the following reference but now I have found it:
Joseph P. Berger and Morris Zelditch, Jr.
_Theoretical Research Programs: Studies in the Growth of Theory_
Stanford University Press, 1993.
This book presents several trps in sociology and political science.
Tom Hall and I have used Lakatos's basic strategy in our explication of
the comparative world-systems approach, forthcoming in January or
February from Westview Press -- _Rise and Demise: the Comparative Study
of World-Systems_.
