The African-New World Studies Program in conjunction
with the Black Graduate Students Association at
Florida International University will be hosting "The
Oliver C. Cox Symposium: Life, Work, and Impact" at
Florida International University-Wolfsonian in Miami,
Florida on February 28, 2002.  Papers addressing all
aspects of Oliver Cox's life and scholarship are
requested including, but not limited to, the Caribbean
influence, the origins and dynamics of capitalism,
global economy/world-systems, and "race, class, and
caste". Contributions by graduate students are
particularly sought.  If you want to present a paper
please send titles and abstracts by e-mail to Perry L.
