Re: Left's dilemma (NYT) (fwd)

Reading this piece by Kazin, and that piece by Naomi Klein, I find myself 
beginning to wonder if Wallerstein and Braudel maybe were on to something 
with the insistence that events are dust.  Having lived through both the fall 
of communism, and the gulf war, I am wary of all declarations that the left 
is dead.
