Petition for a Thoughtful U.S. Response

There must be other options than that which the U.S. Government is
proposing: a long and destructive global conflict against elusive individual
enemies, with impoverished peoples being held responsible for the actions of
the governments that oppress them.

Eighty-five percent of Americans favor military retaliation, says CBS News
online, "even at the expense of many thousands of innocent lives." This does
not honor or bring back those who have perished, nor does it effectively
resolve the circumstances that led to their deaths. It is an action born out
of rage, that can only lead to mass destruction.
