UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, RIVERSIDE. The Department of Sociology invites
applications for one senior level position and one tenure-track
assistant professor position beginning July 1, 2002.
    For one position, we seek a scholar whose research focuses on the
broad areas of economic and political sociology, with a specific
emphasis on social movements and/or globalization.
          For the other position, we seek a scholar whose research
focuses on life course studies, family sociology, and social
psychological processes. For both positions, preference will be given to
candidates who complement existing departmental strengths in ethnicity,
inequality and sociological theory. The successful senior level
candidate must possess a strong record of scholarly productivity
          and grant-funded research and demonstrate a commitment to
teaching excellence at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The
successful junior level candidate must demonstrate promise of
high-quality research productivity and a commitment to teaching
excellence and have a Sociology Ph.D. in hand by June 30, 2002. Salary
for both positions is commensurate with education and
experience. Applicants are requested to submit a letter of application,
