Based on "States of unrest: Resistance to IMF policies in poor countries" by
Jessica Woodroffe and Mark Ellis-Jones [from Znet, April 2001]

The report lists 13 countries with resistance to IMF policies
(strikes, marches, parliamentary fist fights, other - year
2000)- namely,

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Kenya,
Malawi, Nigeria, Paraguay, South Africa, Zambia

Who resisted?
[here counting only those explicitly mentioned:]
(a) people, various groups and classes (other than b, c) - in 11 countries
(b) rural people - in 4 countries
(c) ethnic groups - in 2 countries
(d) labour unions - in 7 countries
(e) Catholic Church - in 5 countries
(f) NGOs (other than d, e) - in 6 countries
(g) various public officials - in 6 countries
[for Colombia the report lists only "workers"]

"Various groups and classes" includes: farmers, workers, factory workers,
oil workers, public sector workers, hospital workers, transport staff,
teachers, secondary school teachers, scientists, doctors, students, estate
surveyors and valuers, engineers, police officers (strike by), shareholders

"public officials" includes: politicians, opposition party members, members
of parliament, prominent lawyers, courts, Minister of the Supreme Court,
Federal Judge, president of country
