Hitler wanted only death camps, but Herr Krupp argued successfully, 
"Why not work them to death?".

Many of the slave-labor camps served American-owned factories 
that operated throughout the war in Germany.  That may be
part of the reason for the exclusivity of the death-camp
characterizations.
