My apologies for multiple postings. tom hall ------------------ Political Economy of the World-System prizes for 2001 BOOK AWARD: Any book on global, international, or comparative sociology concerned with the relationship between domestic and global social, economic, and political processes is eligible. The book must be in English or made available to the nominating committee in an authorized English translation. Anyone may nominate a book, regardless of discipline, section, or ASA affiliation of either the author or nominator. Self-nominations are welcome. Letters should include complete publication information. Eligible for the annual award are books published in the previous three calendar years [1998, 1999, 2000]. Hopkins Dissertation Award This award, given in even-numbered years, is intended to recognize important contributions to the development of world-systems studies by graduate students. Research in comparative or international sociology concerned with domestic and global social, economic and political processes are eligible for consideration, as long as the dissertation has been completed during preceding three calendar years [1998, 1999, 2000]. Dissertations normally should be nominated by the student's advisor or the scholar most familiar with the student's research. Nomination letters should detail the nature and merits of the work.
