SOCIOLOGY POSITION ADVERTISEMENT
(Rank-Open Position)
UNIVERSITY OF UTAH (www.utah.edu). The Department of Sociology invites
applications for a rank-open (associate or full professor) position, and
seeks a scholar of national stature in the area of macro-comparative
sociology. Quantitative expertise is essential and a history of
extramural funding is preferred. The department has restructured its
graduate program around its strength in macro-comparative research, and
the successful candidate will be expected to assume a prominent role in
this program. Area of sub-specialization is open but preference will be
given to an individual who will work well with current active research
faculty. The position is contingent upon final budgetary approval.

professor beginning August 2001 in the area of macro-comparative
sociology. Quantitative expertise is essential and an interest in
teaching advanced statistics at the doctoral level is preferred. The
department has restructured its graduate program around its strength in
macro-comparative research, and the successful candidate will be
expected to assume a role in this program. Area of sub-specialization
