Hello,

I've added you to my CrashList group at eGroups, a free,
easy-to-use email group service. As a member of this group, you
may send messages to the entire group using just one email address:
CrashList@egroups.com. eGroups also makes it easy to
store photos and files, coordinate events, and more.

Here's a description of the group:
------------------------------------------------------------------------

A moderated List to discuss with theoretical rigour the political economy
of capitalism's boom/bust cycles. This is the Crisis Site of Record with
news and reports filed on the issues, analyses, prognoses and actualities.
Special emphasis on global linkages and on wider social, historical,
political and ecological dimensions/repercussions. The CrashList is a
resource for activists and an attempt to understand the dynamic linkages
between economic and social crises, and looming environmental catastrophe.

While the epicentre of the Great Crash of 2000 is Wall Street and its
satellite exchanges, these foci of crisis have no meaning or substance
except as dynamic frames of reference for a historical totality: they form
the instantiating moment of that totalisation and their processes therefore
require historical analysis and empirical deconstruction, but it should
never be forgotten that the exchanges are only appearance-forms of the
historical totality and derive their whole meaning from the validating
relata inscribed by that totality on their surfaces.

Numerous alternative axes of theory are possible and therefore permissible
and strictly-speaking all that is required for participation in the
CrashList is logical rigour and topicality; theoretical provenance is a
subordinate issue.

The list is moderated by historian and writer Mark Jones.
