further to Pat Loy's post on market socialism, describing the Roemer and
Boswell/ Chase-Dunn contributions, including coupon systems ---

it seems to me that such coupon systems are technically quite feasible,
given available computer technology. A major political problem would be how
to keep the information power in the hands of the administrators of such
systems democratically controlled. It would be a nightmare to have the
coupon-entitlements of 6 billion people stored in one global supercomputer
which would be controlled by one man, woman, or junta, no matter whether
right-wing, left-wing, or other. (I am aware that the mentioned authors
emphasize the importance of democratic control.)
