Randy Groves argues that Andrew Austin's "dreams of a socialist utopia"
avoid action on environmental issues. My impression (as a reader but rare
contributor to the list) is that Andrew's writings make it very clear that
action on environmental issues, and a whole lot of other issues linked to
our current capitalist world-system, are at the heart of our efforts to
create a world socialist alternative. ie. it's more than just a "dream",
it's action to realise an alternative. This way of thinking, based in
action, seems more positive than just labelling something as "utopian" and
proclaiming that it won't happen. Who knows the limits of the next world
system?
