Isn't there a world of difference between a position that advocates a
program with some keynesian-like features as a component in transformation
to socialism and the position that desires keynesianism as a mechanism to
prevent socialism?

I believe it was stated that growing discontent stemming from excessive
inequality threatens the continued existence of capitalism, a desirable
social order, and that Keynesianism - a state capitalist project - is the
best strategy to contain the fallout from capitalist exploitation and
accumulation.
