Dear Colleague,

I am pleased to announce the establishment of The IR Theory Review: a new
electronic journal dedicated to the dissemination and critical review of
postgraduate student research relevant to the discipline of International
Relations and its theoretical development.

The objectives of the new e-journal are to:

   - encourage and promote quality postgraduate research;
   - contribute to theory development within the discipline of IR;
   - facilitate the active engagement and exchange of ideas;
   - foster the development of postgraduates and their work.

While submissions are sought specifically from postgraduate students, there
will
be opportunities for established scholars and other IR professionals to
contribute.

The editorial panel of The IR Theory Review currently comprises:

   - Mark Beavis: Manager, Education Services Bureau,
     World Vision Australia;
   - Roland Bleiker: Department of Government,
     University of Queensland;
   - Daniel Gressang: Department of Intelligence Collection,
     Joint Military Intelligence College, Washington;
   - Andrew Linklater: Department of International Politics,
     University of Wales, Aberystwyth;
   - Olivier Minkwitz: Centre on Transatlantic Foreign and Security Policy,
     Free University of Berlin;
   - Glen Segell: Director, Institute of Security Policy, London.

A sample version of the e-journal (we are only in the process of seeking
submissions at this stage), together with submission guidelines, can be
found on
The IR Theory Web Site at http://www.irtheory.com/.

The IR Theory Web Site is an on-line resource for IR scholars, students and
professionals. It currently hosts the new e-journal, a discussion list
(The IR
Theory List) and many links to useful Internet-based resources.

Another new project on The IR Theory Web Site is the development of a
knowledge
base which aims to build a collection of all existing and emerging IR
paradigms,
approaches and theories. Anyone can contribute to the collection's
development
by checking what is currently listed (follow the Knowledge Base link on the
menu) and e-mailing new details to me.

Please forward this notice to other colleagues in your department and
professional networks and, if you are in a teaching position, especially
your
postgraduate students.

Yours sincerely, Mark.
